Hot Rod Wagon Plans

Cruise through the car show or swap meet with style or just make something awesome to pull your kids or grandkids around the neighborhood. The fully welded steel frame and automotive style steering with bronze bushings on all joints make it pull easy and smooth. These plans show you exactly how to take a classic Radio Flyer wagon and fabricate the custom chassis for it. 

Your purchase includes a 23 page PDF with detailed instructions written in simple, plain English with pictures and drawings so that the build can be completed by anyone. It also includes a set of DXF files to laser or plasma cut the front axle components. 

This build uses a set of laser or plasma cut parts, which can easily be ordered from online laser cut vendors such as SendCutSend or from local shops. They can also be cut on a CNC plasma table, though some additional post processing will likely be needed on plasma cut parts. All DXF cut files will be sent with the PDF plans to your email immediately after purchase. Because of the complexity of the parts, it is not recommended to cut these parts by hand.

All measurements are in feet and inches, at this time there is not a metric version of the wagon plans available. Look out for additional plans with metric versions in the future. 

In addition to the set of laser/plasma cut plates, you'll need some 1" square tubing, 1/2" round bar and hardware. A comprehensive detailed list is included with the plans, with links to the few pieces of specialty hardware. 

Minimum set of tools to complete this build:
-MIG or TIG welder
-Angle grinder w/ cutoff wheel and grinding wheel
-Measuring tape
-Speed square or similar
-Handheld drill
-1/4" drill bit
-1/8" drill bit
-Basic hand tools for assembly(wrenches, screwdrivers, etc)
-4" C-clamp or vise to press bearings
-Optional: chop saw or bandsaw
-Optional: welding table
-Optional: CNC plasma table
-Optional: drill press
